The vast majority of Couchsurfing experiences are not only safe, but outright life changing. Taking responsibility for your personal safety when traveling is important. And it's just as important when you're using Couchsurfing. We take your safety seriously. So should you.
Members are asked to fill out a detailed profile page in order to display who they are, how they think and what their life is like. They can also choose to become a verified member, which means their name has been confirmed to help the community see that they're being honest about who they are.
Learn more about the benefits of verification here.
Couchsurfers support the community’s safety by sharing information among themselves. They do this by leaving references when they have experiences with one another, by connecting though friend links, and by reporting abuse.
So, when you make a decision about who to meet, you are provided with information from a variety of sources. Make sure to thoroughly read members' profiles before you meet them, paying special attention to references, and check to see if they've had any of their information verified. And if you'd prefer, you can use our search feature to find people who you already know by searching for their Couchsurfing profile or Facebook friends.
