Couchsurfing Events are about one thing: bringing people together. Whether you're organizing a hike, a language exchange, or a casual meetup at a local bar, if it's about community and connection, you're in the right place. Here's what to keep in mind.
Put Everything in the Event
Date, time, meeting point, schedule, any costs. If it's useful to know in advance, include it. Members should have everything they need without having to ask. If there's an official link for more information or ticket purchase (a venue website, event lineup, etc.), you're welcome to include it, just make sure all the key details are already in the event itself.
Keep Communication on Couchsurfing
Plans change? Post the update in the event. Someone needs to reach you? They can use chat. Keeping everything in one place makes for a safer, smoother event for everyone. For privacy and safety reasons, please don't share personal contact information (phone numbers, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.) in your event or via chat.
No Commercial or Promotional Events
Events are for connecting, not converting. If you're trying to make money, grow a following, or promote a business, this isn't the place. That means no bar or club promotions, no business plugs, no tours or classes with a mandatory fee, no collecting a cut of any cover charge, and no soliciting donations.
Got a Venue? You're Welcome Here
If you own or manage a space and want to host a Couchsurfing-specific event (a weekly meetup, board game night, dance party, whatever), great. Think of it like hosting: you're opening your space to the community. No cover charges, no mandatory minimums. If you run a bar or cafe, charge your normal prices. We're not asking you to feed and drink Couchsurfers on your own dime, just don't make it a condition of showing up.
Events With a Cost? Be Upfront About It
If the event has an associated cost (an open mic night cover, a museum entry fee, a club with a minimum consumption), post it clearly. Tickets and fees should go directly to the venue or event, not to you. You're the organizer, not the promoter.
Events Are Not Stays
Looking for a host or want to share your travel plans? That's what Trips are for. Events are not the place to post about upcoming trips or search for accommodation. Head to your Trips and create one so hosts in that area can find you and reach out.
Follow Our Community Guidelines
All events are subject to Couchsurfing's Community Guidelines, Policies and Terms of Use, same as everything else on the platform. Give them a read before you post.
