Your profile is your first impression on Couchsurfing. It's how hosts decide to open their door, how travelers know they'll be in good company, and how you find the people you actually want to meet. A complete profile gets more responses, sparks better connections, and tells your story before you even say hello.
The good news? Updating it is quick, and you can do it anytime.
How Do I Get to My Profile?
On mobile:
- Tap Library
in the bottom navigation bar
- Tap your profile
in the upper right corner of the screen
On the web:
- Click your profile
at the bottom of the left navigation bar
How Do I Edit My Profile Content?
Once you're on your profile, tap or click Edit Profile to open the edit view. From there, you can update:
- About: The basics, like your hometown, occupation, languages, and interests
- Lifestyle: Your habits and personality, from sleep style to social vibe
- Prompts: Quick takes on different questions that show off who you are
- Photos: Add or swap out photos to show your good side (or your weird side, your call)
- Profile Map: The places you've lived and the ones you've visited
- Home Profile: Details about your home and hosting setup, if you're open to having travelers stay
Are There Any Fields I Cannot Edit Myself?
Yes. Your first name, last name, and date of birth can't be updated directly on the platform. To change any of those, reach out to our support team and we'll take care of it.
You can update your email address and phone number anytime in Settings → Personal Details.
What About Privacy Settings?
Some profile fields can be shown or hidden depending on your preferences. You can manage these toggles in Settings → Privacy Settings, including:
- View My Profile: When enabled, only logged-in members can view your profile
- Only Show First Name: When enabled, your last name is hidden from your profile
One Thing to Know: Editing your profile is different from managing your account settings. Things like notifications, language, and security options live in Settings, not on your profile edit page.
