Need to update your name or date of birth? You're in the right place. These fields can't be changed from your account settings, but our support team can take care of it for you.
Why Can't I Edit These Fields Myself?
Your name and date of birth are identity fields, which means they help keep the Couchsurfing community safe and trustworthy. Locking them down protects members from impersonation and makes sure the info on your account stays accurate. A small inconvenience for a much safer platform.
What Can I Update Myself?
Plenty. You can update your email address and phone number anytime from Settings → Personal Details, no support ticket needed.
If you'd rather not display your full name publicly, you can also hide your last name without changing it. Just head to Settings → Privacy Settings and toggle on Only Show First Name.
How Do I Request a Name or Date of Birth Change?
