Trouble getting in? Don't worry, you've got options. Below are the most common reasons members can't access their account and how to sort each one out.
How Do I Log In to Couchsurfing?
Couchsurfing no longer uses passwords. You can log in using any of these methods:
- Email magic link: Enter your email address and we'll send you a one-time sign-in link
- Phone number: Enter your phone number and we'll send you an SMS code
- Social sign-in: Continue with your Facebook, Apple, or Google account
Choose the same method you used when you signed up.
I Didn't Receive My Magic Link or SMS Code
If your link or code isn't showing up, run through these:
- Check your spam or junk folder if you're expecting an email
- Make sure you're entering the correct email address or phone number
- Wait a minute or two — delivery can occasionally lag
- Clear your browser cookies and try again
- Request a new link or code and try again
Magic links and SMS codes expire after a short time. If yours has timed out, just request a fresh one.
I No Longer Have Access to My Email or Phone Number
If you can't access the email address or phone number tied to your account, reach out to our support team. We can update your contact details so you can sign back in.
My Account Appears to Be Deactivated
If you previously deactivated your account, getting back in is simple: head to the Couchsurfing login page and sign in with your usual method. That's it.

I Think My Account Has Been Removed
If your account no longer exists, it may have been deleted. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. If you believe your account was deleted in error, reach out to support.

- Couchsurfing no longer uses passwords. If you previously logged in with one, you'll now use one of the sign-in methods listed above
- If your account was deleted, it cannot be restored
