A Couchsurfing membership is your key to the whole experience — hosting and staying with members, joining events, exploring Communities, and connecting with travelers all over the world.
How Do I See Available Plans?
You'll see the available membership plans after completing onboarding. You can also view your current plan at any time by going to Settings → Manage Subscription → Web Subscriptions.

Couchsurfing is built on real human connection, and your membership puts all of it within reach. Here's what you get:
- A place to stay, anywhere. Send stay requests to hosts around the world and open your own door to travelers.
- People to meet right now. Search for hosts and travelers, or use GoLive to connect with members nearby in real time.
- Events worth showing up for. Join events in your city or create your own and invite the community.
- Communities that get you. Browse and participate in Communities built around shared interests, destinations, and more.
- Trips worth planning. Map out your travels with up to 15 destinations and share them with the community.
- Conversations that go somewhere. Send messages and chat requests to anyone on the platform.

Want to stand out and build trust faster? Verification is a separate add-on that adds a verification badge to your profile, showing other members you are who you say you are.
Here's why members get verified:
- Hosts are more likely to accept stay requests from verified profiles
- It gives both hosts and guests confidence that the person they're meeting is real
- It helps keep the community safe by reducing fake accounts and impersonation
- Your verification badge is visible across the entire platform, so it works for you everywhere
The process is quick and guided. You'll be asked to confirm your identity using a government-issued ID, and it usually takes just a few minutes. You can get verified from the Get Verified banner on your profile or from Settings → Verify Profile.
What Payment Methods Are Accepted?
Couchsurfing accepts the following payment methods:
- Credit or debit card
- PayPal
- Apple In-App Purchase (iOS)
- Google In-App Purchase (Android)
Your payment method depends on how you sign up. If you purchase through the website, you'll pay via credit card or PayPal. If you purchase through the mobile app, you'll pay through your device's app store.
How Do I View or Manage My Membership?
On mobile:
- Tap Library
in the bottom navigation bar
- Tap your profile
in the upper right corner
- Tap Settings
- Tap Subscription
- Tap Web Subscriptions
On the web:
- Click your profile
- Click Settings
in the upper right corner
- Click Manage Subscriptions
- Click Web Subscriptions
From here, you can see your current plan or update your payment method.
