Getting verified is one of the best things you can do for your Couchsurfing profile. It shows hosts and travelers that you're the real deal. To get started, you'll need a government-issued photo ID.
What IDs Are Accepted?
Any of these will work:
- Passport
- Driver's license
- National ID card
Does It Matter Where My ID Is From?
It can. Accepted document types and formats vary by region, so if your ID isn't going through, it may just be a regional or format limitation rather than anything you did wrong.
Tips for a Successful Submission
Verification is done through the Couchsurfing mobile app. You'll take a photo of your ID and record a short video selfie. A couple of things that'll make the process go smoothly:
- Good lighting is your best friend. Blurry or dark photos are the most common reason submissions fail.
- Make sure all four edges of your ID are visible in the frame.
