If a member is making you uncomfortable, you can block them at any time. Blocking prevents them from contacting you on Couchsurfing. You can unblock them again whenever you like.
How Do I Block Someone?
The quickest way to block a member is directly from their profile.
On mobile:
- Go to the member's profile
- Tap the more options icon (three dots) in the upper right corner
- Tap Block User
- Review the confirmation and tap Block
On the web:
- Go to the member's profile
- Click More in the top right corner
- Click Block User
- Review the confirmation and click Block
The member will not be notified that you have blocked them.
What Happens When I Block Someone?
When you block a member, they will no longer be able to contact you, and you will no longer be able to contact them. A blocked member will not be able to find your profile in search, but they can still view your name, location, and references.
You may still see content from a blocked member in your Feed for a short time, until that content expires. When you do, their avatar will show a profile card with an option to unblock them.
How Do I Unblock Someone?
You can unblock a member at any time from your Settings.
On mobile:
- Tap Library
in the bottom navigation bar
- Tap your profile
in the upper right corner
- Tap Settings
- Tap Blocked Users
- Find the member and tap Unblock
- Review the confirmation and tap Unblock
On the web:
- Click your profile
- Click Settings
in the upper right corner
- Click Blocked Users
- Find the member and click Unblock
Once unblocked, the member will be able to contact you again and you will be able to view each other's profiles.
A Couple Things to Know:
- Blocking a member does not automatically report them. If you want to report inappropriate behavior, use the report option on their profile. You can report and block at the same time.
- Blocking is not the same as muting a chat. Muting keeps you in a conversation but turns off notifications. Blocking prevents all contact.
- Blocking does not delete any existing chat history between you and the member.
