Blocking a member is a way to cut off contact between you and another member. Here's exactly what changes when you do.
What Blocking Does
When you block a member:
- They can no longer contact you, and you can no longer contact them
- Neither of you can send the other a chat request, stay request, or friend request
- The blocked member cannot find your profile in search, but can still view your name, location, and references
- The blocked member is not notified that you've blocked them
What Happens in Your Feed
You may still see content from a blocked member in your Feed for a short time after blocking them. When their content does appear, their avatar will show a profile card that confirms they're blocked and gives you the option to unblock them directly.
What Blocking Doesn't Do
- Blocking is not the same as reporting. If you want to flag inappropriate behavior to our Trust and Safety team, use the report option on their profile. You can report and block at the same time.
- Blocking is not the same as muting a chat. Muting turns off notifications for a conversation but keeps the chat open. Blocking prevents all contact.
- Blocking does not delete any existing chat history between you and the member.
Can I Undo a Block?
Yes. You can unblock a member at any time from Settings → Blocked Users. Once unblocked, you'll both be able to contact each other and view each other's profiles again.
