Good news: everything is still there. The new profile is built to help you show up as your full self so the right people actually want to connect with you. A few things moved around, and some things got an upgrade. Here's the tour.
Your Information Carried Over
Everything on your old profile came with you. If something isn't immediately obvious, it's probably in a new spot or wearing a slightly different hat. Read on and you'll find it.
What's New on Your Profile
About Me is better than ever. You've got up to 1,000 characters to describe yourself, your hosting vibe, and what you're after on Couchsurfing. Make it count.
Prompts are your secret weapon for standing out. They're guided questions that let you go deeper than a bio ever could. Bonus: if you loved the questions from the old platform, a lot of them made the cut. Go answer a few and let your personality shine.
Lifestyle fields are perfect for the details that make a real difference when you're deciding whether to host or stay with someone. Sleep schedule, social style, tidiness — the stuff people actually want to know.
Interests got a refresh. We updated the list to help you connect with like-minded people and get better recommendations across the platform. Don't see something that's very you? Pop it into your About Me section instead.
Places (where you've lived and where you've visited) now show up on a map on your profile. We're ironing out a few wrinkles here. If somewhere isn't showing up or you're seeing places that shouldn't be there, we're on it.
Photos
We did make one change worth knowing about: photos now display in portrait orientation. It works better on mobile and plays nicely with most social platforms, so your best shots should translate beautifully.
We're sorry if some of your landscape photos got cropped in the process. When you get a chance, swapping them out for portrait-oriented versions will make a big difference.
To add or update your photos, tap or click Edit Profile on your profile.
Hosting Availability
The "Accepting Guests / Maybe / Not Accepting" status is no longer a thing. Instead, your activity on the platform naturally signals to travelers that you're around and engaged. If you decline a stay request because your living situation won't allow it, you'll quietly step out of host search results for six months.
If you're going to be unavailable for a stretch, the best move is to decline requests as they come in and drop a note in your About Me or Prompts so people know what's up.
