Know someone who's about to travel somewhere one of your other friends has been? Intros make it easy to connect them. When Couchsurfing notices that one of your friends is heading to a destination where another friend lives or has traveled, it'll suggest you introduce them. One tap, and they're in a group chat together.
How Do Intros Work?
- One of your friends creates a Trip to a destination
- Couchsurfing looks at your other friends and finds people who've been to or live in that destination
- An Intro suggestion appears in your Feed
, showing which friends might be worth connecting
- You choose which friend (or friends) to introduce
- A group chat is created with everyone included
The suggested friends are members who've already visited one or more of the Trip's destinations, or who currently live there. It's a great way to help a friend get local tips, find a host, or just meet someone cool before they arrive.
Who Can I Introduce?
You're not limited to the friends Couchsurfing suggests. When creating the group chat, you can add anyone from your friends list. You'll also see helpful labels showing which friends have traveled to that destination, so you know who to connect.
Where Do Intro Suggestions Appear?
Intro suggestions show up in your Feed . You'll also get a notification in your Activity Center
prompting you to make the introduction.
Tap or click the suggestion and your traveling friend is already pre-selected. Just pick who to introduce them to and you're done.
Why Am I Seeing Multiple Intro Suggestions for the Same Person?
If a friend creates more than one Trip to the same destination, or multiple Trips that include the same destination, you'll see a separate Intro suggestion for each one. Each Trip is treated individually.
Can I Control Which Intros I See?
Intro suggestions are generated automatically based on your friends' Trips and your network. There's no way to turn them off or filter them, but they only show up when there's a relevant connection worth making.
One Thing to Know: Intros are powered by your connections. The more friends you have on Couchsurfing, the more chances you'll get to help someone discover a new place through someone you already know.
