Got an idea for a meetup, a hike, a language exchange, or a game night? Creating an event on Couchsurfing is one of the best ways to bring people together, whether you're rallying locals in your city or gathering travelers passing through. Any member can create an event, and when you do, you become its organizer with full control over the details.
How Do I Create an Event?
On mobile:
- Tap Events
in the bottom navigation bar
- Tap the + icon in the top right corner
- Fill in your event details
- Tap Create Event to publish
On the web:
- Click Events
in the left navigation bar
- Click the + icon in the top left corner
- Fill in your event details
- Click Create Event to publish
Once your event is live, it will appear on the Events map and list for members in that area to discover.
What Should I Include in My Event?
The more detail you include, the better. Members should have everything they need before showing up, without having to ask. A good event listing includes:
- The date, time, and meeting point
- A clear description of what the activity is
- Whether the event is free or involves a purchase* (e.g., a ticket or venue entry fee)
*If your event involves a cost, make sure it goes directly to the venue or event, not to you as the organizer. See the Event Guidelines for more details.
If plans change, post an update in the event's discussion rather than reaching out individually. Keep all communication on Couchsurfing. For privacy and safety reasons, don't share personal contact details like phone numbers or messaging app links in your event.
How Do I Create a Recurring Event?
You can set your event to repeat on a regular schedule when you first create it.
- In the Create Event form, tap or click Repeat Event
- Choose a frequency
- Set how many times the event should repeat (up to 10)
- Tap or click Apply
After 10 occurrences, you'll need to create a new event to continue the series.

If your event is recurring, you'll be asked whether you want to delete just the current occurrence or all future occurrences as well.
One Thing to Know: Events on Couchsurfing are for bringing people together, not for commercial or promotional purposes. No bar promotions, business plugs, mandatory-fee tours, or events where you collect a cut of any cover charge. If your event has an associated cost, be upfront about it and make sure any fees go directly to the venue or event, not to you as the organizer. All events are subject to Couchsurfing's Community Policies and Terms of Use. For full details, review the Event Guidelines.
