If an event you created or were planning to attend has disappeared, don't worry. There are a few reasons this can happen.
The Organizer Took It Down
Event organizers can delete their own events at any time. If you were planning to go and it's no longer there, the organizer likely removed it. You won't get a notification when this happens, so it can feel a bit sudden.
If the event was recurring, the organizer may have deleted just one occurrence or cancelled all future ones.
Still have questions? You can always reach out to the organizer directly through chat.
It Was Removed for a Policy Violation
Sometimes Couchsurfing removes events that don't follow our guidelines. This can happen when:
- The event was promoting a business, charging mandatory fees, collecting a cut of a cover charge, or soliciting donations
- Personal contact info was shared in the event (phone numbers, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.)
- The event was being used to find accommodation or post travel plans (that's what Trips are for)
- The content violated our policies around spam, hate speech, or explicit material
If your event was removed and you think it shouldn't have been, get in touch with our support team and we'll take a look.
What Happens to My Notifications?
When an event is deleted, any related notifications in your Activity Center are removed along with it. That's expected, so don't be surprised if reminders or invites for that event disappear too.
A Couple Things to Know:
- All events are subject to Couchsurfing's Community Guidelines, Policies, and Terms of Use. For full details, review the Event Guidelines.
- Looking for a place to stay? Events aren't the place for that. Create a Trip instead so hosts in that area can find you.
